Houston Brown Urges Responsible Leadership, Unity, and Accountability in NDC Youth Wing

The Lagos State Coordinator of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing, Hon. Houston Brown, has called on political leaders and youth members across the federation to embrace responsible leadership, unity, and accountability in the exercise of power.

Speaking during an address on Politics, Leadership, and the Responsible Use of Power, Brown stressed that politics should remain a platform for service, justice, development, and the welfare of the people rather than a tool for intimidation, division, or personal gain.

According to him, every leadership position carries a sacred responsibility entrusted by the people and should be exercised with humility, fairness, and a genuine commitment to public service.

He reminded members of the NDC Youth Wing that the strength of the movement lies in its unity, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the party's ideals, adding that the actions of today's youth leaders would shape the future and legacy of the party.

Brown also warned against the abuse of power, noting that while responsible leadership promotes peace, trust, and confidence, its misuse breeds fear, division, and weakens the foundation of any political movement.

He urged leaders, coordinators, and members of the NDC Youth Wing across the federation to avoid using their positions for personal interests or to suppress opposing views, emphasizing that leadership should always serve the collective interest of the party.

The Lagos coordinator further called on members to strengthen grassroots structures at the state, local government, ward, and community levels, while encouraging mentorship, inclusiveness, and active participation among young people.

Addressing internal disagreements, Brown noted that differences of opinion are inevitable in politics but should be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, and strict adherence to the party's constitution and guiding principles.

He also encouraged Nigerian youths to remain law-abiding, reject violence, hatred, and divisive politics, and instead embrace integrity, transparency, and selfless service to humanity.

Reaffirming his confidence in the future of the party, Brown expressed optimism that the NDC Youth Wing could become a symbol of hope, discipline, responsible leadership, and national unity through collective commitment and purposeful leadership.

He concluded by calling on all members to ensure that their decisions promote unity, their leadership inspires others, and their use of power reflects wisdom, justice, and an unwavering commitment to serving the people.
