Gov. Mbah Orders Immediate Reconstruction Of Long-Abandoned Amagugwu, Gariki Road
Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has directed the immediate reconstruction of the long-abandoned Amagugwu–Gariki Road, now officially known as Jim Nwobodo Road, in response to the longstanding appeals of residents.
The directive underscores the Enugu State Government's commitment to expanding road infrastructure and improving connectivity across the state.
Following the governor's approval, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has been instructed to mobilise to the project site without delay and commence the construction of a modern road that will enhance transportation and improve the quality of life for residents and road users.
As part of preparations for the project, the wife of the governor, Patricia Nwobodo, led an inspection visit to the road alongside the Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Caleb Onyema Ani; the Leader of the Enugu South Legislative Council, John Okechukwu Egbo; the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Benjamin Okoh, as well as other senior officials of the ministry.
The inspection was aimed at assessing the current condition of the road and ensuring that work begins promptly in line with the governor's directive.
The Enugu State Government said construction will commence in earnest as it continues to implement critical infrastructure projects aimed at driving economic growth, improving mobility, and delivering the dividends of good governance to the people.
Further details on the scope and timeline of the project are expected to be released by the government.
