Delta Police Arrest Eight Suspected Robbers, Cultists, Gunrunner; Recover Firearms

The Delta State Police Command has arrested eight suspected armed robbers, cultists and a suspected gunrunner in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

The coordinated operations, carried out in Asaba, Issele-Asagba, Oghara and Ogwashi-Uku, resulted in the recovery of four locally made firearms, four live cartridges, one expended cartridge and a dagger, further strengthening the Command's efforts to combat crime in Delta State.

According to the Police Command, the arrests followed credible intelligence and sustained surveillance by operatives deployed to various locations across the state.

Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the suspects are linked to a series of armed robbery incidents in Okpanam, Asaba and neighbouring communities.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects' involvement in criminal activities, while efforts are also being intensified to apprehend other members of the criminal networks still at large.

The Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Delta State and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid the fight against crime.
