Bayelsa Inaugurates Six Sub-Committees For 30th Anniversary Celebration
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the Government House in Yenagoa on Wednesday, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, said the milestone anniversary presents an opportunity for the state to thank God for His faithfulness and celebrate three decades of growth and development.
Dr. Akpe noted that Bayelsa has recorded significant progress since its creation and emphasized the need to organize a memorable and historic celebration that reflects the state's achievements.
He directed the various sub-committees to submit proposals for activities and events within the next two weeks, in line with their respective terms of reference.
According to the Deputy Governor, the three-day anniversary celebration will commence on September 29 and will be preceded by two weeks of commissioning completed infrastructural projects executed by the Prosperity Administration across the state.
He disclosed that activities lined up for the celebration include a cultural carnival, boat regatta, anniversary lecture, sporting events, a state banquet, an awards night, and other programmes designed to showcase Bayelsa's rich cultural heritage and developmental strides.
The inaugurated sub-committees include the Awards Sub-Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Bubaraye Dakolo; the Sports Sub-Committee, headed by Hon. Daniel Igali; and the Lecture Sub-Committee, chaired by Prof. Stephen Olali.
Others are the Mega Praise Sub-Committee, jointly chaired by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe, and the Managing Director of Premium Trust Bank, Dr. Emmanuel Emiefenim; the Cultural Sub-Committee, headed by Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou-Obolo; and the Publicity Sub-Committee, chaired by the Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai.
The inauguration marks the official commencement of activities leading to Bayelsa State's 30th anniversary, with the government expressing its commitment to delivering a landmark celebration befitting the state's historic milestone.
