Atiku Urges Tinubu To Suspend Gbajabiamila Over Alleged ₦400m Bribery Scandal

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations of a ₦400 million bribery scandal and questions surrounding a ₦27.4 billion budgetary allocation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Atiku Media Office, the former vice president said the President must demonstrate leadership by ensuring that public officials in his administration are held accountable whenever allegations of misconduct arise.

Atiku's call follows allegations made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), against the Chief of Staff.

The former vice president expressed concern over reports that Gbajabiamila had described the PFIPC as a non-existent government agency, arguing that such a claim raises serious questions about the allocation of public funds.

"How can you allocate ₦27.4 billion in the budget to a government agency that doesn't exist without leaving more questions than answers?" Atiku queried.

He argued that the reported explanation attributed to the Chief of Staff had only deepened public concerns over the credibility of the Federal Government's budgeting process.

"The Chief of Staff's claim only created more problems for the government," Atiku said, adding that the inclusion of a ₦27.4 billion allocation for an agency allegedly described as non-existent "puts question marks on the credibility of the entire 2026 national budget."

He urged President Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila pending a thorough investigation into the allegations, insisting that accountability and transparency remain essential to good governance.

Neither the Presidency nor Gbajabiamila had officially responded to Atiku's latest call as of the time of filing this report.
