Akoko-Edo Constituency (I) Deserves Effective Legislator, Not Just A Politician— NDC Candidate

Rt. Hon. Jude Omokafe Awelewa, candidate for the Edo State House of Assembly representing Akoko-Edo Constituency I, has emphasised the need for the constituency to elect a representative with a strong understanding of legislative duties, leadership experience, and a commitment to purposeful service.

Awelewa, in a statement released by his campaign organisation, Awelewa Campaign Organization (ACO), stated that the Edo State House of Assembly requires lawmakers with knowledge, courage, wisdom, and the ability to effectively represent the interests of the people.

He noted that his experience as a former Speaker of the Students’ Union Government provided him with valuable leadership exposure, including presiding over legislative proceedings, building consensus, upholding rules, and representing the concerns of those he served.

According to him, Akoko-Edo Constituency I deserves a legislator who understands the lawmaking process, can contribute meaningfully to debates, study bills critically, and champion policies that will improve key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic development.

The Edo Assembly hopeful described his leadership vision as one built on competence, accountability, accessibility, and unwavering commitment to the people, stressing that public office should be used as a platform to create lasting impact.

He also identified youth and women empowerment as key priorities for the development of Akoko-Edo Constituency I, noting that a community that invests in its young people and women secures its future.

Awelewa said empowering youths through quality education, skills acquisition, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship support would position them as drivers of innovation and economic growth, while supporting women through education, access to finance, business opportunities, and leadership inclusion would strengthen families and promote inclusive development.

He assured residents of Akoko-Edo Constituency I that his ambition is focused on building a constituency where talents are nurtured, opportunities are accessible, and every citizen has the chance to contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of the area.

He urged the people to support a representative who will not merely occupy a legislative seat but will use the position to defend their interests, promote development, and work tirelessly for the progress of the constituency.
