Ado-Iliyasu Calls For Thorough Probe Of Alleged PFIPC Fake Agency Scandal
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial candidate under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged fake agency scandal involving the Presidential Fiscal and Investment Policy Coordinating Council (PFIPC), describing the allegations as disturbing and capable of undermining public confidence in government institutions.
Speaking during an interview on Kaftan TV, Dr. Iliyasu said the allegations, which are already in the public domain, deserve an impartial and transparent investigation to establish the facts and ensure accountability.
He noted that every individual mentioned in connection with the matter has the constitutional right to defend his or her reputation, stressing that due process and the rule of law should guide the handling of the case.
According to him, while allegations should not be treated as proof of wrongdoing, the seriousness of the claims requires prompt action by the appropriate authorities to protect the integrity of public institutions.
Dr. Iliyasu urged the National Assembly to immediately constitute a joint investigative panel to thoroughly examine the allegations, identify those responsible where wrongdoing is established, and recommend appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law.
"The allegations are already in the public domain, and it is important that the truth is established through a credible and transparent process. At the same time, every person mentioned has the right to defend his or her name. Justice must be fair to all parties," he said.
The human rights advocate further emphasised that transparency, accountability, and respect for due process remain essential pillars of democratic governance, adding that restoring public trust in government institutions requires swift and impartial action whenever allegations of misconduct arise.
He called on all relevant institutions to discharge their responsibilities without fear or favour, expressing confidence that a credible investigation would strengthen public confidence in Nigeria's democratic and accountability mechanisms.
