2027: Festus Ese Omoruyi Unveils 'Manifesto of Reality,' Promises Jobs, Infrastructure, Accountability For Orhionmwon East
Aspirant for the Orhionmwon East Constituency seat in the Edo State House of Assembly, Festus Ese Omoruyi, has unveiled his "Manifesto of Reality 2027," outlining an ambitious agenda focused on infrastructure, youth employment, quality healthcare, education, security, and transparent governance.
Speaking on his decision to seek elective office, Omoruyi said he was motivated by a desire to move beyond private-sector achievements and contribute directly to public service through effective legislation and people-oriented representation.
"I have built businesses, created jobs, and developed properties in Edo State. But I have come to realize that no matter how successful one is in the private sector, bad policies and poor representation cannot be corrected from the outside. This is my time to give back to Orhionmwon East," he said.
The businessman and entrepreneur identified poor infrastructure, youth unemployment, and inadequate healthcare and education as the three most pressing challenges confronting the constituency.
According to him, he will advocate increased budgetary allocations for the rehabilitation of critical roads while collaborating with relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Works, the Oil and Gas Development Commission, and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), to improve road infrastructure across the constituency.
To tackle unemployment, Omoruyi proposed a "Skills to Wealth" programme that would provide vocational training in construction, hospitality, agro-processing, technology, and other high-demand sectors. He also pledged to partner with private investors to create apprenticeship opportunities and sustainable employment for young people.
On healthcare and education, the aspirant promised to use legislative oversight and constituency intervention projects to facilitate the annual upgrade of six primary healthcare centres and six primary schools. He also pledged to advocate the recruitment of more teachers and healthcare workers while expanding access to the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme.
Drawing from his experience as Chief Executive Officer of a real estate and hospitality company, Omoruyi said he would bring a results-driven approach to governance.
"Business has taught me accountability, planning, and delivering measurable results. As a legislator, I will ensure constituency projects are meaningful and impactful rather than abandoned or politically motivated," he stated.
He further disclosed plans to establish the "EastWorks Initiative," a youth empowerment programme designed to train at least 500 young people annually in vocational and digital skills while supporting entrepreneurs through a constituency-based micro-grant and loan scheme. The initiative would also promote agriculture by equipping youths with skills in cassava processing, poultry farming, and palm oil production.
On accountability, Omoruyi promised to institutionalize quarterly town hall meetings where he would present reports of his legislative activities and constituency projects. He also pledged to establish a fully operational constituency office in Abudu and publish regular scorecards detailing projects, budgets, and beneficiaries.
"I am not a seasonal politician. The people deserve to know how public resources are utilized. Hold me accountable—that is your right," he said.
Addressing security and infrastructure, the aspirant pledged to push for increased state funding for rural roads, electrification, schools, and primary healthcare facilities while supporting community policing initiatives and advocating the installation of solar-powered street lights in strategic locations to improve public safety.
Omoruyi also promised equitable distribution of development projects across all wards in Orhionmwon East through rotational project implementation, ward development committees, and transparent allocation of scholarships, grants, and empowerment programmes.
In his closing remarks, he urged residents to embrace what he described as a new era of purposeful leadership.
"2027 is about choosing between more of the same and a new kind of representation—one that works, delivers, and remains accountable to the people. I am one of you, and together we can build an Orhionmwon East that our children will be proud of," he said.
