2027: Ado Iliyasu Unveils Vision To Transform FCT Into A Global Hub For Investment, Tourism, Economic Growth

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate, Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, has reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies that will position Abuja as a leading destination for tourism, investment, industrial development, and sustainable economic growth.

Dr. Iliyasu said the Federal Capital Territory possesses enormous potential to become one of Africa's most competitive capital cities through visionary leadership, strategic legislation, and inclusive governance that prioritises the welfare of its residents.

According to the FCT Senate hopeful, his ambition is driven by a desire to build a modern and prosperous capital where opportunities are accessible to all, businesses can thrive, and development extends beyond the city centre to every community across the six Area Councils.

He noted that, if elected, he would support legislative initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, attracting local and foreign investment, promoting tourism, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening the business environment within the FCT.

Dr. Iliyasu also reiterated his commitment to people-centred representation, stating that meaningful development must be accompanied by improved healthcare, quality education, youth and women empowerment, and social protection for vulnerable groups.

The Chartered Arbitrator (MCArb.), Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (FICMC), and FCT Director of the International Human Rights Protection Service (IHRPS) further emphasised the need for equitable development across all six Area Councils, insisting that rural communities deserve the same level of infrastructure and government attention as the city centre.

He maintained that Abuja's strategic position as Nigeria's capital provides a unique opportunity to become a world-class centre for commerce, innovation, culture, and tourism, provided the right leadership and policies are put in place.

Dr. Iliyasu has consistently identified people-first leadership, justice, equity, accountability, rural infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance as the core pillars of his campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Expressing optimism about the future of the Federal Capital Territory, he called on residents to embrace a shared vision of progress and support leaders committed to transparency, integrity, and sustainable development.

"Our goal is to build a greater Abuja where every community benefits from development, every young person has opportunities to succeed, businesses flourish, and the Federal Capital Territory stands proudly among the world's leading capital cities," he said.
