2027: Ado-Iliyasu Emerges as Advocate of People-Centred Representation, Equity and Rural Development in FCT
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, supporters of Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial hopeful for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have continued to highlight his vision of people-focused leadership, grassroots development, and equitable representation.
Described by his supporters as "a man of the people," Dr. Iliyasu's campaign is anchored on the principles of People First, Infrastructure Development, Justice, Equity, and Fairness, which he says are essential for building an inclusive and prosperous FCT.
With extensive experience in human rights advocacy and conflict resolution as the FCT Director of the International Human Rights Protection Service (IHRPS) and a Chartered Arbitrator, Dr. Iliyasu has maintained that his aspiration is driven by a commitment to service and the desire to give residents of the FCT effective and accessible representation.
He has consistently emphasised that the people of the FCT deserve a senator who understands their challenges, listens to their concerns, and works to ensure that development reaches every community across the six Area Councils.
A major focus of his agenda is the improvement of infrastructure in rural communities, where he has pledged to advocate for better roads, water supply, electricity, healthcare facilities, and other essential amenities that will enhance the quality of life of residents.
Dr. Iliyasu has also advocated for equity and fairness in FCT political representation, particularly his call for the Senate seat to be zoned to Abuja South, comprising Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje Area Councils. He believes this will promote inclusiveness and ensure that all parts of the territory receive adequate attention and representation.
Beyond infrastructure and political inclusion, the FCT Senate hopeful has outlined plans focused on youth empowerment, women development, improved healthcare, education support, and social protection programmes for vulnerable groups, including the elderly and persons with disabilities.
His supporters believe his background in human rights protection, mediation, and grassroots engagement gives him the experience required to champion a new style of representation built on accountability and service.
Dr. Iliyasu has repeatedly assured FCT residents that his ambition is not about personal gain but about creating a stronger relationship between elected representatives and the people.
According to him, "representation is a responsibility, not a title," promising to maintain open channels of communication with constituents through regular engagements, constituency offices, and accountability reports.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, supporters of Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu are calling on residents of the Federal Capital Territory to support a leadership vision they describe as committed to trust, justice, and sustainable development.
