Peter Obi Calls For Leadership Accountability, Urges President Tinubu To Put Nigeria First

Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place Nigeria's interests above all else by embracing the principles of accountability and responsible leadership.

Speaking amid growing concerns over the nation's economic and security challenges, Obi referenced the example of United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whose recent actions have been widely interpreted as a demonstration of responsibility, humility, and commitment to democratic values.
According to Obi, Nigeria is currently grappling with severe economic hardship, persistent insecurity, rising inflation, and declining public confidence in governance. He stressed that leadership is a sacred trust that must be evaluated based on performance, transparency, and accountability to the people.

The former Anambra State governor maintained that genuine leadership demands courage, honesty, and the willingness to make difficult decisions in the best interest of the nation. He argued that when a government is unable to meet the expectations of its citizens, leaders must prioritize the welfare of the people above personal ambitions or political considerations.
Obi emphasized that his position is not merely a call for resignation but a broader appeal for renewed hope, stronger democratic institutions, and people-centered governance. He noted that Nigerians deserve leaders who are committed to delivering measurable progress and restoring confidence in public institutions.

As discussions continue across the country on the state of governance and national development, Obi's remarks have reignited conversations about accountability, responsible leadership, and the urgent need to build a better future for all Nigerians.
