NDC Youth Wing Rejects Lokoja Federal High Court Ruling, Reaffirms Support For Party Leadership

The National Youth Wing of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected the ruling delivered by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja on Friday, describing it as an attempt to undermine the party's democratic rights and lawful existence.

In a statement signed by the National Youth Wing Coordinator, Hon. Ajodo Onuh, the youth wing expressed unwavering support for the leadership of the party and dismissed the court action, which arose from an application filed by an unregistered association known as the Peace Movement Party (PMP).

According to the statement, the NDC remains a duly registered political party, having secured a Federal High Court judgment in December 2025 that compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register it.

The youth wing noted that since its registration, the party has actively participated in democratic processes, including membership registration, congresses, national convention, primary elections, and INEC-conducted bye-elections in Nasarawa and Enugu states.

The statement further alleged that efforts to use an unregistered association to challenge the party were aimed at distracting, destabilising, and derailing the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

"The 2027 political process is already underway, and Nigeria's democratic space must remain open to all lawful political parties," the statement read.

Calling for calm among members, the National Youth Wing urged its structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to remain united, disciplined, and focused on grassroots mobilisation.

The youth wing also encouraged members to intensify preparations for the party's Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration awareness campaign and logo mobilisation programme scheduled to hold from June 28 to July 2, 2026.

Reaffirming its commitment to the party's ideals, the statement concluded by urging members to stand together in defence of truth and democracy while continuing to support the NDC with courage and determination.

"United in Purpose. United in Service. NDC – SERVICE!" the statement declared.
