Miss World Nigeria 2026 Seeks Ijaw Support Ahead of Vietnam Pageant, Honours IYC President
As part of her appreciation tour across Bayelsa State, Miss World Nigeria 2026, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, on June 23 to express gratitude for his steadfast support throughout her journey to the national crown.
During the visit, Queen Karibi-George presented the IYC President with an appreciation award in recognition of his encouragement and unwavering belief in her aspirations. She described the gesture as a token of appreciation and a reminder that an Ijaw daughter had made both him and the entire Ijaw nation proud.
In his remarks, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri expressed confidence in the beauty queen's ability to excel on the global stage, drawing comparisons between her potential and the remarkable legacy of former Miss World, Agbani Darego. He assured her of the Ijaw Youth Council's full support as she prepares to represent Nigeria at the Miss World pageant in Vietnam.
The IYC President also pledged to personally facilitate an audience with the Bayelsa State Governor and called on all Ijaw people, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind Queen Karibi-George as she carries Nigeria's and the Ijaw nation's hopes onto the international stage.
Responding, Queen Karibi-George expressed profound appreciation for the encouragement and confidence reposed in her, noting that the support of the Ijaw nation would serve as a source of strength as she prepares for the global competition.
Her appreciation tour is aimed at acknowledging individuals and institutions whose support contributed to her emergence as Miss World Nigeria 2026 while mobilising goodwill ahead of her participation in the prestigious Miss World pageant in Vietnam.
