Media Aides Deserve Respect, Professional Recognition – Achese
Media and Communications Strategist, Dagogo Achese, has called for greater respect, recognition and fair treatment of media aides, emphasizing that the profession extends far beyond social media posting and routine administrative support.
Achese noted that media aides are often wrongly perceived as mere assistants or “data boys,” whereas their responsibilities require intelligence, creativity, strategic thinking and a high level of professionalism.
According to him, media aides play a crucial role in shaping public perception, managing communication, protecting reputations, building brands and ensuring that information reaches the appropriate audience effectively and at the right time.
“Media work is a professional job, and it should be respected as such. A good media aide does much more than hold a phone or write captions. The role demands sound judgment, dedication, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage information responsibly,” Achese stated.
He stressed that many of the contributions made by media aides occur behind the scenes, yet remain essential to the success of public officials, organizations and institutions they represent.
The media strategist further argued that media aides should not be looked down upon because of their position, adding that their work requires sacrifice, consistency, expertise and unwavering commitment.
Achese also advocated fair remuneration and adequate support for media professionals, stating that anyone who expects loyalty, professionalism, availability and quality service from media aides must equally appreciate the importance of rewarding their efforts appropriately.
“Talent, time, expertise and dedication should never be taken for granted. Media aides deserve dignity, respect and the necessary support to perform their duties effectively,” he said.
He urged the public and employers alike to recognize the strategic value media aides bring to governance, business and public communication, stressing that the profession remains a vital component of modern information management and reputation building.
“The next time you see a media aide, understand that you are looking at a professional whose work requires skill, intellect, sacrifice and consistency. Respect the profession, value the people and reward their efforts,” Achese added.
