Gborogbosi Eyes 2031 Rivers Governorship, Unveils Blueprint For A Modern, Prosperous State

As conversations around the 2031 Rivers State governorship election gradually begin to take shape, respected management consultant, technocrat, academic, and philanthropist, Sir (Dr.) Leesi Gabriel Gborogbosi, is positioning himself as a leading advocate for transformational governance driven by competence, integrity, and sustainable development.

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gabriel Domale Consulting, Sir (Dr.) Gborogbosi is expected to contest the 2031 governorship election with a comprehensive development agenda aimed at repositioning Rivers State as a hub of economic prosperity, innovation, quality education, and inclusive governance.

A native of Barako Town in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Gborogbosi has built an impressive career spanning nearly three decades in leadership, finance, corporate governance, and strategy. Before establishing his consulting firm, he held several senior management positions at Shell Nigeria, where he managed multi-billion-dollar upstream oil and gas projects, led finance transformation initiatives, strengthened corporate governance systems, coordinated strategic planning, and drove business process improvements that earned him several performance awards.

His career also includes service at the Rivers State Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the University of Port Harcourt before joining Shell. Today, he combines his private-sector experience with academia as a university lecturer and Program Manager of Innovate@Wigwe at Wigwe University, where he mentors young entrepreneurs and promotes innovation-driven enterprise.

Beyond academia, Sir (Dr.) Gborogbosi serves as Chairman of the Ogoni Entrepreneurship Summit Grant Selection Committee, helping to nurture small businesses and encourage youth-led economic development across the region.

His academic accomplishments are equally remarkable. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, an MBA in Finance and Banking, a Master's degree in Research Methodology, a Doctor of Business Administration in Strategy, a Doctorate in Business Studies, and a PhD in Management. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, Fellow in Mentoring and Career Development, a Global Certified Management Consultant, and a London Chartered Procurement Specialist.

A Knight of John Wesley (KJW) of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Sir (Dr.) Gborogbosi is the son of the late Very Rev. Gabriel A. Gborogbosi, a Presbyter of the Methodist Church Nigeria. His Christian values, supporters say, continue to shape his leadership philosophy of service, accountability, and compassion.

His commitment to public service extends beyond politics. Through the Gborogbosi Foundation, he provides humanitarian support to vulnerable members of society, while his Kilsi United Football Club has developed young football talents, with several players now pursuing professional careers abroad. He also founded the Rivers of Our Dreams Initiative (ROODI), a platform dedicated to promoting good governance, peace, economic development, and social cohesion across Rivers State.

Politically, Gborogbosi is no stranger to public service. He has previously contested the Rivers State governorship and has consistently advocated issue-based politics, peaceful elections, and strategic leadership founded on competence rather than political patronage.

His proposed governance blueprint for Rivers State focuses on nine strategic priorities: job creation, quality education, improved healthcare, enhanced security, economic diversification, pension reforms, human capacity development, integrated governance, and the development of three new cities. The blueprint is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with local government councils expected to drive grassroots implementation.

Supporters believe his blend of corporate leadership, academic excellence, entrepreneurial development, and governance experience uniquely positions him to offer Rivers State a fresh direction focused on transparency, innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development.

As political consultations continue ahead of the 2031 election, Sir (Dr.) Leesi Gabriel Gborogbosi's name is expected to remain prominent among those seeking to redefine governance and unlock the vast economic potential of Rivers State.
