Charity Begins At Home: Rainbow Nation Founder Urges Political Leaders To Reward Loyal Supporters

Political leaders across Nigeria have been urged to prioritise the welfare and empowerment of their loyal aides and long-serving supporters, rather than focusing solely on individuals outside their immediate political circles.

The call was made by Hon. Obubo Koripamo Davies, Founder of Rainbow Nation, in a statement titled "Charity Begins at Home: A Message to Political Leaders."
Davies expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend in Nigerian politics where leaders provide appointments, financial assistance, vehicles, and other opportunities to distant associates while neglecting those who have remained loyal throughout their political journey.

According to him, many dedicated aides and supporters who have sacrificed their time, energy, and resources in support of political leaders are often left without meaningful recognition or empowerment.
He recounted witnessing a situation in which a long-serving aide was publicly questioned about the benefits he had received after years of working closely with a prominent political figure, despite seeing others with little connection to the leader receive substantial support.

Davies described the incident as both painful and reflective of a deeper problem within the country's political culture.

"True leadership starts at home," he stated, stressing that leaders should not leave their closest supporters in hardship while extending generosity to outsiders for the sake of public approval or political popularity.

He argued that empowering loyal team members should not be viewed as favoritism but as a rightful recognition of commitment, sacrifice, and unwavering support.

The Rainbow Nation founder further noted that public commendations and social media praise are not enough to reward dedicated supporters, insisting that they deserve opportunities that can improve their lives and reflect their contributions.
Davies maintained that the success of any political leader should be measured not only by the number of people empowered across society but also by the progress, wellbeing, and advancement of those who stood by them from the beginning.

He called on political office holders and influential leaders to adopt a more inclusive approach to empowerment by ensuring that those who have contributed to their success are not forgotten.
