Bayelsa's Road Revolution Driving Development Across State, Says Diri's Aide
The Bayelsa State Government's investment in road infrastructure is rapidly transforming the state's economic and social landscape, with many communities that were previously accessible only by water now connected by road networks.
The Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli, stated this in a commentary on Wednesday while highlighting the achievements of Governor Douye Diri's administration in the area of infrastructure development.
According to Ikuli, Bayelsa has witnessed a remarkable shift in accessibility under the current administration, as strategic road projects continue to open up communities across the state's hinterlands.
"Before now, over 65 percent of Bayelsa State was accessed through rivers. But now, over 65 percent of Bayelsa State is accessed by road," he said.
The governor's media aide noted that well-constructed roads are now criss-crossing various parts of the state, significantly improving movement, commerce, and interaction among communities.
Hon. Ikuli emphasized that road infrastructure remains one of the most important catalysts for development, describing it as a major driver of socio-economic and political growth.
"Road is one of the greatest and highest drivers of socio-economic and even political developments," he stated.
He maintained that the Diri administration's commitment to road construction is helping to integrate previously isolated communities into the mainstream of economic activities while creating opportunities for sustainable development.
The remarks underscore the Bayelsa State Government's ongoing efforts to expand infrastructure and improve connectivity across the state as part of its broader development agenda.
