Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, has said that the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has continued to transform the state through massive investments and people-oriented policies anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

The Commissioner stated that within three years in office, the Nwifuru administration has recorded remarkable achievements across critical sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, housing, industrialization, and social welfare.

According to him, one of the landmark achievements of the administration is the award of state-sponsored foreign and local postgraduate scholarships to 1,400 beneficiaries, with full payment already completed. The government also approved automatic employment and scholarships for indigenous and non-indigenous first class graduates of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, while increasing the institution’s monthly subvention to N300 million.
In the education sector, the government upgraded the Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo, to a degree-awarding institution and commenced the establishment of ICT University, Agbaja, alongside the University of Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, Onueke. Several classroom blocks, pilot schools, libraries, and educational facilities are also under construction across the state.

The administration has equally prioritized employment and human capital development through the recruitment of 2,000 teachers, 100 judicial officers, and 1,700 workers into various ministries, departments, and agencies. In addition, over 1,500 youths were empowered with grants of N1 million each, while thousands of beneficiaries received support under the NG-Cares World Bank Programme.

Omebeh further noted that Governor Nwifuru’s intervention in the healthcare sector has recorded significant progress through the rehabilitation and reactivation of the 13 general hospitals across the state, revitalization of 171 primary healthcare centres, distribution of ambulances and utility vehicles to hospitals, and establishment of the Ebonyi State Medical Diagnostic Centre, Nwofe, equipped with modern MRI and CT-Scan machines.

He added that the government also reactivated the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency and enrolled civil servants and pregnant women into the scheme, while paying hospital bills for indigent patients receiving treatment in general hospitals and the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Speaking on infrastructure, the Commissioner explained that the state has witnessed extensive road construction and rehabilitation projects, including the asphalting of Abakaliki street roads, concrete pavement roads within the capital city, and several ongoing bridge projects such as the Enyim Bridge linking Ebonyi and Benue States, the Vanco Junction twin flyover, and multiple unity bridges across communities.

He also highlighted the rehabilitation and equipping of the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, construction of 140 duplexes for public and civil servants, and modern duplexes for traditional rulers across the state.

On industrialization and agriculture, Omebeh said the administration successfully rehabilitated and reactivated the Ebonyi Fertilizer and Chemical Company, Ebonyi State Pipe Production Company, and Building Materials Industrial Company, Ezzamgbo, while also commencing the construction of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone and Ebonyi State Industrial Cluster.

He further disclosed that farmers across the state benefited from the distribution of thousands of bags of fertilizer between 2023 and 2025, while women in agriculture and vulnerable groups received financial support through various empowerment programmes.

The Commissioner stated that the administration’s social welfare interventions extended to widows, persons living with disabilities, students, and rural communities through housing projects, grants, and compensation payments for communities affected by government projects.

According to him, transportation and urban renewal also received major attention through the establishment of the EBOCAB transport system, procurement of luxurious CNG buses, installation of a municipal waste management plant, and rehabilitation of strategic public facilities within the capital city.

Omebeh maintained that the Nwifuru administration remains committed to sustaining the momentum of development and delivering more democratic dividends to the people of Ebonyi State.
