Diri Reaffirms Commitment To Children’s Welfare On 2026 Children’s Day

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting the rights, welfare, and quality education of children across the state as Nigeria marks the 2026 National Children’s Day celebration.

In a goodwill message to commemorate the occasion, Governor Diri described children as the pride of the state and the nation’s most valuable investment, stressing that they remain the foundation for a greater future.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,” the Governor said the Bayelsa State Government, under its Assured Prosperity agenda, has continued to invest heavily in programmes and projects targeted at improving the lives and future prospects of young people.

Governor Diri noted that his administration has remained deliberate in building a future for children through educational reforms and innovation, particularly the transition of the secondary school curriculum to skills-based learning.

According to him, the initiative has led to the establishment of science, technical, and vocational colleges across the state to equip children with practical knowledge and skills for self-reliance and global competitiveness.

“As a father, I fully appreciate the heavy responsibility of raising children with honour, discipline, and strong moral values,” the Governor stated.

He further assured that his administration is committed to building a virile and inclusive state where every child can access equal opportunities, dream boldly, grow safely, and thrive without discrimination.

Governor Diri congratulated children in Bayelsa State and across Nigeria on the special occasion and prayed for God’s protection and guidance over them for a brighter and greater future.
