APC Imo Directs National Assembly Aspirants To Undergo Financial Status Verification
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has directed all aspirants for the National Assembly to present themselves for a mandatory financial status verification exercise.
The directive, which applies to aspirants for both the Senate and House of Representatives who have purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, was issued by the State Secretary of the party, Onyekachi Ibezim.
According to the notice, affected aspirants are required to appear in person at the State Party Secretariat located at 47 Okigwe Road in Owerri on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, by 12:00 noon.
The party leadership stated that the exercise is aimed at confirming the financial standing of aspirants within the party. Those attending are expected to present documentary evidence proving that they are up-to-date financial members of the APC.
In addition, aspirants must provide evidence that all party members who endorsed their nomination forms have also fulfilled their financial obligations to the party.
The statement noted that the State Financial Secretary will oversee the verification of all payments and dues, adding that only aspirants who meet the stipulated requirements will be cleared to proceed in the nomination process.
The APC warned that failure to comply with the directive will attract sanctions, stressing that non-compliant aspirants risk disqualification from further participation in the process.
Party officials described the exercise as part of ongoing efforts to ensure internal discipline, transparency, and adherence to party guidelines ahead of forthcoming elections.
