AGBALAJE’S RDA Tenure Highlights As Model Of Transparecy, Grassroots Development

Hon. (Evang.) Lucky Agbalaje’s tenure as Chairman of the Tarakiri Rural Development Authority (RDA), Ebedebiri, between April 2008 and July 2010, has been described as a period marked by administrative competence, transparency, and impactful grassroots development.

During his time in office, Agbalaje undertook a comprehensive staff verification exercise aimed at promoting accountability and restoring public confidence in the system. The exercise uncovered 40 ghost workers on salary grade levels 13 to 15, a development that led to significant cost savings for the Authority.

Funds recovered from the exercise were subsequently redirected toward the recruitment of 86 qualified personnel, a move that strengthened the Authority’s workforce and enhanced its operational efficiency.

In addition, his administration facilitated the engagement of 48 volunteers across Sagbama Constituency I. This initiative not only created opportunities for young people but also encouraged greater community participation in governance.

Agbalaje’s leadership also saw the successful completion of Phase I of the Tarakiri RDA Secretariat building, ending years of operating from rented accommodation and providing a permanent administrative base to improve service delivery.

As part of efforts to promote economic inclusion, his administration introduced monthly stipends for youths, aimed at empowering them and improving livelihoods within the constituency.

Observers note that the achievements recorded during his tenure underscore a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, infrastructure development, and human capacity building.

Against this backdrop, Agbalaje’s aspiration to represent Sagbama Constituency I in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress is being viewed by supporters as a move toward sustainable development, effective representation, and responsive grassroots leadership.
