Otti Flags Off 1,200 Renewed Hope Housing Units On Umuahia, Prioritises Welfare Of Abians
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 1,200 housing units under the Federal Housing Authority’s Renewed Hope Housing Project in Umuahia.
The project, a collaboration between the Federal Government and the Abia State Government, positions Abia as the first state in the South East—and among the first five states nationwide—to partner with the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Renewed Hope Housing initiative.
Governor Otti expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the project, while also commending the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority, Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, and his team for their commitment to expanding access to affordable housing.
He noted that the initiative is designed to improve the welfare of citizens by providing quality and affordable homes, in line with his administration’s people-centred development agenda.
The governor further disclosed that, before authorising the groundbreaking, the state government ensured that verified landowners in the host communities were duly compensated. Out of about 900 claimants, over 800 have already been fully paid, while the remaining beneficiaries are encouraged to resolve outstanding bank or ownership issues to access their funds, which have already been deposited.
Governor Otti reaffirmed that his administration will continue to prioritise projects that uplift the lives of Abians, stressing that governance in the state will remain focused on welfare and development beyond politics, ethnicity, or religion.
