The ancient King Koko Square in Nembe, Bayelsa State, was filled with solemnity and tributes as family members, dignitaries, and residents gathered for the funeral ceremony of a renowned statesman and retired naval officer, His Excellency, Chief (Rtd) Navy Captain Walter Aye Feghabo-Amain, FSS, MSS, psc(+), who passed away at the age of 68.
Representing the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, the Abia State First Lady, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, attended the ceremony and paid glowing tribute to the late statesman, describing him as a man whose life embodied discipline, patriotism, and dedicated public service.
Chief Feghabo-Amain was a distinguished naval officer and patriot who served Nigeria with honour. He made history as the pioneer Military Administrator of Ebonyi State and also served as Military Administrator of Delta State, where he was widely recognised for his visionary leadership and administrative impact.
Beyond his national service, he remained actively involved in community development upon his return home, contributing meaningfully to the growth of Bayelsa State. In Nembe Kingdom, he held the traditional title of Head Chief of the Amain-Kien-Alagoa-Koki group of War Canoe Chieftaincy Houses, where he was respected as a custodian of tradition and a leader of dignity.
Mrs. Otti, speaking on behalf of the Abia State Government, extended condolences to the bereaved family, particularly his wife, Mrs. Ebi Lilian Feghabo, his children, and the entire Nembe Kingdom.
She prayed for God’s comfort upon the family and urged them to take solace in the impactful legacy the late statesman left behind, noting that his life of service to Nigeria and his community would continue to inspire generations.
The ceremony concluded with tributes from family members, traditional rulers, and associates who described the deceased as a disciplined officer and exemplary leader whose contributions would remain indelible in history.
"May his soul rest in perfect peace", she intoned.
